Good:
Tour of the Chalav Yisroel Dairy in Norwalk (just try not to pick a hot day and watch out for the hat-eating horse in the pen next to the cow field).
Any trip to Palos Verdes that doesn't end stuck in traffic.
Ecosystems and the Air and Space Center at the Cal Science Center...remember not to bring Cohanim to the main building.
Underwood Family Farms on a weekday.
Picnics in the evening with dad at local parks (Coldwater Canyon is particularly nice.)
Bad:
Ballona Wetlands. Definitely not for the under 7 y o crowd or for anyone who doesn't like standing still for long periods of time.
The Ugly:
The Arts and Crafts museum opposite LACMA. The exhibit is tiny and often inappropriate. The gift shop is amazing, but not with kids under 5 who can't keep their hands to themselves.
S. Monica in the summer. Once, Daniel sat in the sand facing away from the water digging a moat for 2 hours while avoiding looking at the bikini ladies.
BTW, Aryeh could be a tour guide if you want to go to LACMA and see only the highlights. (This is an actual offer, not a joke.)
Malkie G. suggests we go to Kidspace with a group discount.
