Palos Verdes things to do this Summer

31 miles from here in Palos Verdes:
Abalone Cove Shoreline Park (tide pools of urchins and anemones)
South Coast Botanic Garden
Palos Verdes Nature Preserve
Banning Museum (an 1864 mansion)
Wayfarer's Chapel (Frank Lloyd Wright's son was the architect--assuming this is a church we can skip)
Point Vicente Lighthouse (to catch the sunset)

If anyone wants to do any of this during the summer, lets just pick a date.

  1. We LOVE Palos Verdes. Let's do Abalone Cove the week of July 17-23. Maybe July 18th, as the 19th is 17 Tammuz? Although, going to tidepools doesn't necessarily involve swimming. We also need to check low tide first.

Wayfarer's Chapel is a church, currently in use. The lighthouse has tours, but only on Shabbos, I think. It's right by the interpretive center, which is cool (except for one display with an un-tznua Tongva Indian lady manikin).

Wanta check out the Banning Museum for details?

The Botanical Gardens are nice, but lots of walking, and hotter than most of the peninsula. Maybe better to hold that off for Chal HaMoed Sukkot or something.
