We are theme-less this week, and also on a slightly slower-paced schedule than usual until after Tisha B'Av (I'm tuckered out and need a few days to re-coop!).
Monday - ice skating at the Valley Ice Center, organized by Kayla G. (See previous post for details.)
Tuesday - no activity planned...unless someone wants to schedule something. If you are willing to organize it, you can post a meetup on the blog.
(The Natural History Museum usually is free the first Tuesday of the month, but it is NOT having an open house during August, as it gets too crowded. Ditto for the Page Museum at the La Brea tar pits. That was the original plan for the day, but if it's not free, it's a no-go. Sorry, folks. At least I checked first...it would have been a bummer to get there and be stuck paying!)
Wednesday - Kite flying at 1:30 p.m. at...
Korean Friendship Bell Park
Angels Gate Park
San Pedro, CA 90731
This is close to Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and the Point Fermin Lighthouse for those who didn't go last week. Bring your kites and a snack. There's a very small playground, too.
http://withoutbaggage.com/essays/kite-flying/ is a link to a funny/touching article about kite flying here. It explains that this park is rumored to be the windiest spot in L.A.
Thursday - Park Meetup: Virginia Ave Park (at Pico) in S. Monica at 1:30 in the afternoon. Don't forget that the kids will probably get wet. There's a nice, grassy flat area if you want to play softball or soccer.
Remember the first Sunday of the month (Aug 7) will be free at the Bowers Museum and Kidseum in Santa Ana.
Please have a look at the post about our possible Tisha B'Av activity if you haven't yet done so! And, take part in the new survey at the bottom of the web page.
Hope to see you soon!
